Hello everyone! It's a sunny day in Southport, and I have a house to clean and cupcakes to bake before my small group today... but there's always time for a "crafty getaway", right?! Well, this is a card for my brother-in-law. Happy Birthday shout out to Luke! I figure he doesn't frequent my blog much so it's safe to showcase his card before he receives it in the mail.
.......
I love the Make-It Monday challenge from the PTI crew this week... I love distressing, and am not sure why I have not used my scissors for this technique more often! So refreshing to get those ideas and creative reminders. :)
DETAILS, DETAILS!
>> Papertrey colors always seem to match my stash so perfectly. Orange Zest base with Simply Chartreuse made a nice blend with the color scheme.
>> Of Course, you don't want to miss the details with from my EMBELLISHMENTS stamp set. The flourish was stamped and die cut, and then the sentiment seemed most appropriate for the outside of a birthday card.
>> The pattern papers were scraps from a We R Memory Keepers pack from years ago.
>> I distressed the edges of the large gray background piece as well as the hand made banners. I inked the edges to make the distressing more obvious.
>> The navy mesh adds a great masculine flair that I will need to bring out and use more frequently.
>> Crochet thread with gave a soft touch, bobbles in the corners frame it up a bit. Stitching added some abstract edginess, and I love the flits of orange texture popping out from behind the polka-dot banner.
The messy house awaits me... though I have already cleaned up my craft area, so somehow that makes me feel more at peace. A clean table is always welcoming me back to find solace in a little creative time. :)
LIVE the DREAM!
