>>DAY TWO.
>>>DAY THREE.
>>>>DAY FOUR.
THEME: When I began designing the Embellishments stamp set I knew I wanted something vintage. I loved the memories of my grandmother's wallpapers in her house. I thought of the vintage family photos in her hallway. I thought of the ornate frills on her dining room furniture and tapestries. And when I was searching through fonts, I found the perfect match! The handwritten looking font is called "Jane Austen"... now that gets me excited! I love the glorious romances of such fabulous women writers as Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte from the 1800s. I love to hear the beauty of their hearts pouring out page after page. The cards featured today, (though you might see a bit of shabby chic in there) are really tributes to that long lost, but never forgotten era of regal wonder.
>>>Papertrey saves the Day! No doubt, this is a PTI card all over the place! Perfect Match colors are: Teracotta Tile, Dark Chocolate, and New Leaf satin ribbon.
>>> Using tone on tone for the orange background gave a fabulous wall paper look. And metallic gold ink on the frame adds immediate elegance and detail to the card. I also inked around the entire outer edge of the card to give a vignette effect.
>>>Digital Tuesday's "cameo" digital stamp was a perfect way to pull all the elements together. A little light coloring and it looks just like the softly faded vintages photos treasured in many families' heritage.
>>> I thought that with the digi stamp and sentiment, this card would be a perfect fit for a mother, grandmother, relative, or loving person who invested in your life, taught you along the way, and left you full of inspiration! I know there are many awesome women to whom I would love to send this card.
>>> Oh, yes, and I know I have said it before, but I LOVE the PTI satin ribbon! I loved ruffling it to take advantage of every bit of shine and you can get out of it!
>>> Oh, yes, and I know I have said it before, but I LOVE the PTI satin ribbon! I loved ruffling it to take advantage of every bit of shine and you can get out of it!
This card has a few more layers and I like the pieces atop each other and slanted slightly askew because it reminds me of maybe the look of a woman's writing desk with inspiration pieces strewn about. I pictured Jane Austen sitting at her desk, with pen in hand, and paper resting beneath her fingers which were surely stained with ink. (See, we are not so different, are we?! ha!) I pictured the rays of sunlight softly crossing through the panes in her window, lighting her view, as the sweet pictures, bits of ribbon, sentimental tokens, and scribbled dreams filled her thoughts with inspiration. Boy, did I just make a messy work space sound romantic, or what?! I wish my husband could look into my craft room and see such beauty in the midst of my clutter! Ha!
I used the same color palate on this card as earlier. Do you ever find you work faster if you make a bunch of cards and stick to the same color schemes?! I know I do! Once again the metallic gold ink goes a long way with this style card. And I couldn't resist using my furry ribbon again! I love that stuff!
The ripped paper on the sentiment reminded me of Jane Austen ripping up pages she was dissatisfied with. There is something raw and beautiful about ripped paper when used within this theme. I think it comes off even stronger than when using it all the time in your every day crafting. :)
Once again, I just thought this "Cameo" digi stamp was so lovely! I love the look in her eyes. I love the waves in her hair. I love the ruffle on her high neck line! Just love it!

This set is absolutely gorgeous!! I am loving all of your cards too!! I have a hard time with vintage but you are fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteI confess, I'm not much of a vintage fan, but I am very much enjoying these flourishes!
ReplyDeleteI'm really excited about your new set! I think that your embellishments are perfect for this Fall/Christmas season - so rich and vintagey! I'm really looking forward to playing with them! Congratulations on your wonderful news - I hope your family is blessed by the move!
ReplyDeleteI love your beautiful new set! It's so classic and elegant. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI'm a Jane Austen fan thanks for telling about the font. I love the florishes and your set may be my only purchase of this release right now , since we are off to France in Sept to visit Normandy Beach, etc. My husband is a retired Air Force chaplain, so I know about pastoral moves. I'll be praying for you and am going to put you on my favorites list.
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time achieving that vintage look and I will confess that I will shamelessly CASE (or at least try) your beautiful creations. My husband had received some very old photos of his dad when he was 5-6 yo. Old time B&W and TAPED to black paper. I have it wrapped it archival tissue and we're trying to decide if/how we can salvage them. Hopefully it won't to too expensive as I think they are great pieces of family history.
ReplyDeleteI adore your new set. I'm not into the vintage look myself, but I think it's great how versatile your set is. No matter the persons style it looks great!
ReplyDeleteI see this set as classic, and therefore can be used in vintage or modern ways! Thanks for all your lovely cards!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with your new set!!! I can't wait to get to play with it and of course the dies, perfect :)
ReplyDeleteTanya
This set will definitely be used in the making of my Christmas cards this year!
ReplyDeleteI love your vintage cards, Tiffany. That is a style that I struggle with but you've made it look so easy. I will certainly give vintage a try again taking inspiration from your cards.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big Jane Austen fan so was really excited to hear about the font you used! Have been inspired by all your cards and can't wait to try out some new ideas.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful set! I'm not too big into the vintage look (and wouldn't be able to pull it off if I tried), but your cards are lovely. I hope your move goes well and is an easy transition for your family!
ReplyDeleteI love a bit of the vintage look and your cards are "just right", not over done. Your new set looks marvelous. I love flourishes. I love your Fall Elegance set and the new set is a wonderful addition. I love making tone on tone backgrounds with the flourishes.

ReplyDeleteThis post reminded me of the BBC version of "Emma" that we watched recently. So enjoyable! This set reminds me of the rich textures in their home. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteThis stamp set is so beautiful. I just love the flourishes. Gorgeous, gorgeous! It does have that old fashioned feeling to it that makes it different than some of the other flourishes that are on the market.

ReplyDeleteOh Tiffany this card is so beautiful! I love how you've managed to create such a vintage look with those strong colours - fabulous! Mrs Gaskell is a favourite classic author for me with Cranford being top of my list - its such a gentle book. I have a copy dated 1898 illustrated by H M Brock which I adore. Now you've inspired me to create something with a picture from the book.
ReplyDeleteOh and I hope your move goes smoothly!
what a beautiful stamp set! its sophisticated, you have done an incredible job designing it, and the samples were..out of this world! very different from what others make when it comes to vintage/shabby!
ReplyDeleteYour stamp set is gorgeous and you make beautiful things with it :). I am not too good with this type of vintage style but am definitely taking notes along the way! Love that your stamp set can be used in many styles!

ReplyDeleteI'm still picking my jaw off the floor! Another amazing and beautiful use of your set...actually I think this may be my favorite style so far - although I've said that every day!- (grin) I LOVE the Jane Austen font (as I do her books) and will definitely be trying my hand at coming up with something as aged and elegant looking as your cards. All the best with your move. What an exciting season in your life, and what a blessing to be closer to family! Thanks for another day of beautiful inspiration.
ReplyDeleteMore lovely cards. I find it hard to use vintage images of people, but these are very elegant. The satin ribbon all ruffled looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteAll the best for your move too :)
What a great theme! I really love the script font in your new set!
ReplyDeleteThis definitely give me some inspiration as I have never made a card in this theme! This makes me want to reread some Classics -- Wurthering Heights comes to mind!
I love that Embellishments can accent so many different styles of card making! I hope I win the set, but if not it will be in my cart!!
What a beautiful set! I've enjoyed seeing the projects that have been created with it. Vintage is a fav of mine, & the versatility of this set is amazing. LOVE the font & sentiments! Thanks, Tiffany, & best wishes to you & your family in Southport...a truly beautiful & quaint town (love the ferry). Maybe I'll see you when I'm hanging out in Ocean Isle!
ReplyDeleteI am so looking forward to your embellishments set! I love flourishes so I knew this was a set for me. Vintage is a style that I love and your cards fit the period perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI'm new to your blog (came from Ann's blog up above me) and love what I'm seeing! First, your cards are wonderful and I loved your thoughts about how you designed this fantastic set. I've become a follower and look forward to seeing more!
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so excited about your Embellishments set and the new dies. I've looked everywhere for flourishes and there are plenty, but have held off, for some reason.
ReplyDeleteI'm pleased I have, as this set offers so many options - co-ordinated or stand alone... so versatile. Love it. Would be a perfect match with distress inks too.
I love the Edwardian era, and the cards you've showcased are just beautiful. Jane Austen is a favourite author. I especially enjoyed reading a vintage copy of Sense & Sensibility I discovered in an old bookstore.
Congratulations and thanks for the chance to be part of the fun.
You did a beautiful job all week showcasing your new set. The flourishes are beautiful and I love how you used them with both muted and brighter colors, and both feminine and masculine images. The set would be a fabulous addition to my stamp collection.
ReplyDeleteTiffany----wow! Moving to NC? How great---I remember moving here in 1996 for my Worship Pastor husband to go back to school and get a Ph.D.---So excited for what the Lord will do in your lives! Your set is lovely---I don't do alot of Vintagey stuff---it takes me so long because it's not my style, but I'd love some short cuts to do it---I can tell that this set could help make any card more vintage---That image in your card reminds me of a Jane Austen novel---some of my favs!
ReplyDeletecant wait to get this set into my hands:)
ReplyDeleteYour second card wins my heart! You described it beautifully! Love Embellishments! Definitely on my order!
ReplyDeleteThose flourishes are so calling my name I see lots of background stamping going on w/embossing and distressing ohh YAY :)
ReplyDeleteYour set is perfect for these vintage cameos--thanks for sharing the source. Besides cards this set would be good for the heritage albums I am supposed to be making!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the release of this set; it must be so exciting for you! LOVE the color choices you made for these cards. I'm a vintage girl at heart. I scrapbooked my parents' vintage photos; loved it. These flourishes would have added the perfect touch to the pages. Thanks for sharing the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI love the way this embellishments stamp can look so classic on one card, yet fun and modern on another. It adds so much to cards either on the background, or as a focal point with the dies! I'm not a big history person - (no time to read with stamping and quilting), but I do appreciate the vintage look. My parents passed away two years ago and I have inherited a lot of old family pictures which would look great scanned in and retouched to look like a pencil drawing from this era. I may have to try that! Thanks for all your great ideas! Hope the move goes smoothly!
ReplyDeleteYour posts have been delightful this week! I have enjoyed how you shared the thought process that went into making each card. I think what I love most about this set is that it is versatile and timeless...just a set that can add beauty to any type of card you make. GREAT job, and thanks so much for sharing your creative talent with all of us!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite movies is "Pride and Prejudice" and I think your the style of your new stamp set represents this time period perfectly. ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! You have have done some amazing things with this set! And good luck with the move, being a Southern girl myself, there's just no place like the South.
ReplyDeleteI haven't typically made vintage-style cards, but with this stamp set, it looks easier - you have done a fine job explaining how it works - I love the vintage frame around the center image. Thanks Tiffany for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLove the new set I like vintage stuff.
ReplyDeleteBut tend to use more soft colors and love to use swirls with birds and flowers.
Thanks for sharing this week and I will look more often on your blog!

ReplyDeleteThis is such a great and versatile stamp set. I love how you used it on your vintage cards, such a perfect fit. My great aunt had a house that was all wall papered. Her walls had all sorts of gorgeous designs just like you're talking about. I live the tone on tone look with this stamp set. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
ReplyDeleteThis is such an amazing, versatile set. I think it will be a great companion to Damask Designs.
ReplyDeleteThis is just gorgeous!! I have hundreds of photos of relatives that I could do this with...how entirely exciting!! :-D Thanks so much for such a beautiful set! I can't wait to get it!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic set and beautiful cards!! When I saw this set I immediately thought of Christmas and the smells of ham cooking and the laughter of family filling the house. My grandmother had a table runner (with a similar pattern) that was only brought out for special occasions! I now have that table runner and it is worth millions to me! For this Christmas, I have an idea in mind instead of using the typical gift tag. I plan on scanning old photos to sepia and decorating a shipping tag to label each present. Wouldn't this set be perfect for those tags!! I can't wait...
ReplyDeleteWow. I love that ruffle ribbon. I love those gorgeous and rich flourish. I love old picture. And I love Jane Austin.
