>DAY ONE.

>>DAY TWO.

>>>DAY THREE.

>>>>DAY FOUR.

OK, I HAVE to give a disclaimer. I truly wish my photography skills did these cards some justice, but that absolutely do not! In person these cards are absolutely stunning! I love the warm fall colors. There is a rich depth in these cards that seems to have been flattened on the picture, so please bear with me and hopefully you can see the beauty in these cards like to do! :)

THEME: When I began designing the Embellishments stamp set I knew I wanted something vintage. I loved the memories of my grandmother's wallpapers in her house. I thought of the vintage family photos in her hallway. I thought of the ornate frills on her dining room furniture and tapestries. And when I was searching through fonts, I found the perfect match! The handwritten looking font is called "Jane Austen"... now that gets me excited! I love the glorious romances of such fabulous women writers as Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte from the 1800s. I love to hear the beauty of their hearts pouring out page after page. The cards featured today, (though you might see a bit of shabby chic in there) are really tributes to that long lost, but never forgotten era of regal wonder.

Details, Details!
>>>Papertrey saves the Day! No doubt, this is a PTI card all over the place! Perfect Match colors are: Teracotta Tile, Dark Chocolate, and New Leaf satin ribbon.
>>> Using tone on tone for the orange background gave a fabulous wall paper look. And metallic gold ink on the frame adds immediate elegance and detail to the card. I also inked around the entire outer edge of the card to give a vignette effect.
>>>Digital Tuesday's "cameo" digital stamp was a perfect way to pull all the elements together. A little light coloring and it looks just like the softly faded vintages photos treasured in many families' heritage.
>>> I thought that with the digi stamp and sentiment, this card would be a perfect fit for a mother, grandmother, relative, or loving person who invested in your life, taught you along the way, and left you full of inspiration! I know there are many awesome women to whom I would love to send this card.
>>> Oh, yes, and I know I have said it before, but I LOVE the PTI satin ribbon! I loved ruffling it to take advantage of every bit of shine and you can get out of it!

This card has a few more layers and I like the pieces atop each other and slanted slightly askew because it reminds me of maybe the look of a woman's writing desk with inspiration pieces strewn about. I pictured Jane Austen sitting at her desk, with pen in hand, and paper resting beneath her fingers which were surely stained with ink. (See, we are not so different, are we?! ha!) I pictured the rays of sunlight softly crossing through the panes in her window, lighting her view, as the sweet pictures, bits of ribbon, sentimental tokens, and scribbled dreams filled her thoughts with inspiration. Boy, did I just make a messy work space sound romantic, or what?! I wish my husband could look into my craft room and see such beauty in the midst of my clutter! Ha!

I used the same color palate on this card as earlier. Do you ever find you work faster if you make a bunch of cards and stick to the same color schemes?! I know I do! Once again the metallic gold ink goes a long way with this style card. And I couldn't resist using my furry ribbon again! I love that stuff!

The ripped paper on the sentiment reminded me of Jane Austen ripping up pages she was dissatisfied with. There is something raw and beautiful about ripped paper when used within this theme. I think it comes off even stronger than when using it all the time in your every day crafting. :)

Once again, I just thought this "Cameo" digi stamp was so lovely! I love the look in her eyes. I love the waves in her hair. I love the ruffle on her high neck line! Just love it!
..............................................................................

  5. I'm a Jane Austen fan thanks for telling about the font. I love the florishes and your set may be my only purchase of this release right now , since we are off to France in Sept to visit Normandy Beach, etc. My husband is a retired Air Force chaplain, so I know about pastoral moves. I'll be praying for you and am going to put you on my favorites list.

  6. I have a hard time achieving that vintage look and I will confess that I will shamelessly CASE (or at least try) your beautiful creations. My husband had received some very old photos of his dad when he was 5-6 yo. Old time B&W and TAPED to black paper. I have it wrapped it archival tissue and we're trying to decide if/how we can salvage them. Hopefully it won't to too expensive as I think they are great pieces of family history.

Mrs Gaskell is a favourite classic author for me with Cranford being top of my list - its such a gentle book. I have a copy dated 1898 illustrated by H M Brock which I adore. Now you've inspired me to create something with a picture from the book.

  38. Oh, I am so excited about your Embellishments set and the new dies. I've looked everywhere for flourishes and there are plenty, but have held off, for some reason.

I'm pleased I have, as this set offers so many options - co-ordinated or stand alone... so versatile. Love it. Would be a perfect match with distress inks too.

I love the Edwardian era, and the cards you've showcased are just beautiful. Jane Austen is a favourite author. I especially enjoyed reading a vintage copy of Sense & Sensibility I discovered in an old bookstore.

Congratulations and thanks for the chance to be part of the fun.

Your set is lovely---I don't do alot of Vintagey stuff---it takes me so long because it's not my style, but I'd love some short cuts to do it---I can tell that this set could help make any card more vintage---That image in your card reminds me of a Jane Austen novel---some of my favs!

  46. I love the way this embellishments stamp can look so classic on one card, yet fun and modern on another. It adds so much to cards either on the background, or as a focal point with the dies! I'm not a big history person - (no time to read with stamping and quilting), but I do appreciate the vintage look. My parents passed away two years ago and I have inherited a lot of old family pictures which would look great scanned in and retouched to look like a pencil drawing from this era. I may have to try that! Thanks for all your great ideas! Hope the move goes smoothly!

  86. Fantastic set and beautiful cards!! When I saw this set I immediately thought of Christmas and the smells of ham cooking and the laughter of family filling the house. My grandmother had a table runner (with a similar pattern) that was only brought out for special occasions! I now have that table runner and it is worth millions to me! For this Christmas, I have an idea in mind instead of using the typical gift tag. I plan on scanning old photos to sepia and decorating a shipping tag to label each present. Wouldn't this set be perfect for those tags!! I can't wait...
